Caisse d’Epargne Rhône-Alpes
Web form platform
The project consisted in setting up a platform to develop new web-based registration forms very quickly.
Total project duration : 3 months
The total cost of the project was 40 man.days
Details of the project :
Problematic
The Caisse d’Epargne Rhône Alpes (CERA) wants to be able to easily add and modify web forms that it makes available to Internet users for online registration. These forms must follow a validation mechanism and therefore a sequence of predefined screens upstream.
Mission statement
Develop a Web application platform to easily add and modify registration forms, as well as the application form for opening a home savings plan.
The main objectives of the project are to :
- encourage Internet users to register online by offering simpler and more ergonomic forms, without changing the current validation process,
- monitor requests made online, by e-mail, to allow control and reactivity on the processing of requests,
- centralize interested requests and prospects in a database,
- allow the extraction of the information into an Excel file on request,
- be able to perform statistical studies and analyses on the number of activated forms and the number of validated forms.
Organization
For the realization of the project, 3 persons have been allocated :
- 1 Project manager, technical and functional manager
- 1 Software Architect
- 1 Development Engineers
This contract was executed entirely with Tana Corp resources dedicated to the project.
Main characteristics of the client
The Caisse d’Epargne Rhône Alpes is a regional mutual bank. Affiliated to the French federation of savings banks, it is present in the following 5 departments: Rhône, Ain, Isère, Savoie and Haute-Savoie.
With 320 branches and 3,000 employees, CERA manages 2 million customers including 500,000 companies.
Conduct of the project
Solution features
Business processes covered by the solution
- Online registration for banking products,
- Security and confidentiality of sensitive data
What were the most difficult features to implement ?
The forms are not hosted on the same site as the official CERA site. Moreover, they can be called by several CERA mini-sites. Moreover, as far as personal banking information is concerned, the data manipulated by these forms is very sensitive. The exchange of data between the calling sites and the form platform has therefore been secured.
Technical platform elements
Software package, software or development languages used
After analysis of all the constraints, Tana Corp proposed the realization of a custom application, based entirely on a Microsoft solution:
- Microsoft .Net Framework, Asp.NET/C# language,
- SQLServer 2005 Express,
- IIS 6 Web Server
Reasons for the choice
- Microsoft .Net Framework with C#: development platform allowing an excellent cost/delivery time/quality implementation ratio.
- ASP.NET: scripting languages allowing the development of WEB interfaces with a high level of ergonomics.
- SQLServer 2005 Express: free, high-performance database server, perfectly adapted to the target data volume.
- IIS 6 Web Server: Microsoft’s web server for hosting ASP applications
Share of pre-existing developments used on which the Supplier has capitalised to complete the project
- The project was carried out entirely from scratch.
Challenges and key success factors
- Ergonomics : daily use of the application in a production context, rapidity of screens and interfaces.
- Robustness : the mobile terminals and the communication interface with the central platform run 24 hours a day. It is important that the applications run continuously without human intervention or loss of data.
Business result
Today the application is in production and hosts about ten registration forms. Registration information is sent daily to managers for rapid processing. Weekly statistics are also sent to product managers.
