CEA
Electronic traceability of radiochemical analyses
The project consisted in developing the TEAR (Electronic Traceability of Radiochemical Analysis) tool in front of :
– Facilitate the identification of chemicals entering the LABM (Laboratoire d’Analyses de Biologie Médicale) of Cadarache and their elimination, and to allow the transfer of this data to the chemical management tool ;
– To trace the important parameters of each stage during the radiochemical analyses (identity of the operator, products and materials used, etc.) ;
– To allow the editing of this information.
As this tool is to operate by reading barcodes on PDAs, the Alter Mobile Systems (AMS) product, created by Tana Corp, served as the basis for the system.
Total project duration : 3 months
The total cost of the project 40 man.days
Details of the project :
Problematic
The process of traceability of chemicals at the Cadarache LABM was manual. A mobile traceability system based on product identification via barcode would considerably speed up this process and reduce input errors.
Mission statement
The main objective of the project is to automate the identification of chemicals and the capture of field information on mobile terminals and to transfer the information to the CEA’s GIRCHIM application.
The tool developed is broken down into three main parts:
- Data entry on the Windows Mobile PDA via the AMS FormsEngine and the Socket barcode reader ;
- Data exploitation and extraction (GIRCHIM, Word, Excel) via the AMS DockingBay ;
- Editing of data entry forms via AMS Designer.
Organization
For the realization of the project, 2 persons have been allocated :
- 1 Project manager, technical and functional manager
- 1 Development Engineer
This contract was executed entirely with Tana Corp resources dedicated to the project.
Main characteristics of the client
The Commissariat à l’énergie atomique et aux énergies alternatives (CEA) is a French public scientific research organization in the fields of energy, defense, information technology, life sciences and health, with nine sites in France.
The mission of the LABM (Laboratoire d’Analyses de Biologie Médicale) at Cadarache is to carry out biological, radiotoxicological and anthroporadiometric analyses requested by doctors from the Occupational Health Service (SST) or any other organisation that has signed an agreement with the CEA.
